Here’s the thing friends. I look for these scriptures a few weeks before they are posted so that a wonderful artist (this month its Natalie Larsgard) can create a print for you. The funny thing is, even though I do this for the benefit of everyone, it is ME who is strengthened. Every time.
I don’t think I am alone in having moments of feeling overwhelmed. Last week was especially exhausting for me mentally and physically. I was at one of those moments where I just didn’t have any fight left in me. Nothing left to give. And like it always does, this month’s scripture changed that. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” These words filled me. Like a river rushing into a dry bed, my feelings of fatigue and defeat were overcome with energy and understanding.
Paul described it as the “word of grace”, and it truly is that. God’s word can build us up, and in my experience, God’s word has been the main source of building me up in times of need both emotionally and spiritually, and even mentally and physically!
As we lay hold upon the word of God, it will lay hold upon us.
If you need more strength in your life, memorize these scriptures. If you need to find answers to prayers, memorize these scriptures. If you want more clarity in your life, memorize these scriptures. The blessings are there for the taking, please come and partake!
